Thomas Wilson is the Director of Music at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney. He grew up in New Zealand before studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London; he went on to work at Ealing Abbey and Westminster Cathedral. He has been at St Mary’s Cathedral since 2010. Read more about Thomas here.
Simon Niemiński, Assistant Director of Music
Simon Niemiński is the Assistant Director of Music at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney. Before moving to Sydney, he was Organist of St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral and Director of Music at The Robin Chapel in Edinburgh. Hannah McCarthy, Music Administrator
Hannah McCarthy has been Music Administrator at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney, since 2014. She grew up in Adelaide, studied at the University of South Australia, and spent a year abroad in San Diego. After living and working in England, she returned to Australia to live in Sydney. Hannah is responsible for co-ordinating the delivery of the music at St Mary’s Cathedral. She has overall responsibility for the welfare of the boy Choristers.
Gareth Baard, Assistant Organist
Gareth Baard has been Assistant Organist at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney, since May 2018. He was born in South Africa, and completed undergraduate music studies at the University of Cape Town. He holds Performer’s Licentiates in Organ from Trinity College, London, and from the University of South Africa, and has a Master of Music degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He has previously served as Director of Music at St Luke’s Anglican church, Mosman.
